Jesus. Absolutely brilliant. I've imagined, as a result of this tale, of weaving some of Thomas Cahill's Patrick story into a coming-to-terms tale of the modern trans-oceanic wage-slave trade, and those transnational slavers being brought to heal and shame by some sandal-wearing former sheep herder, but I need to call up the parts counter at the last Triumph shop in Iowa yet today to track down some bits to keep my perfectly fine fifty-year-old two-wheeled transport functional. There might be someplace I'd want to get to for lunch. Besides;

The modern transnational slavers that've infested your shores are all heals, and there ain't a lick of shame to be found between all of them together.

By the way, I reside in one of the greener spots on that map in the middle of this former nation, on the right-hand side of the Big Muddy, and mercifully, the Bros that haven't already set up housekeeping in bunkers in New Zealand all 'live' two whole time zones to the west.

Stunning analysis. I'm sending it round to the same folks I'd sent Kingsnorth's bit today on St. Patrick. Which is better than you might be thinking...

Slick video from the Irish Government; a sense of unreality underscored by the sight of many beautiful Irish landscapes without a drop of rain in sight.

Friends don't let friends drive stupid!

.

An excellent essay, Tull. I would only add that, if the Irish Ruling Classes – yes, Ireland really does have a Ruling Class – truly considers the United States a friend, then, instead of quietly and surreptitiously facilitating the U.S. military adventurism of supporting Genocide in Gaza and Wars of Aggression against Iran and other nations, by practicing "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policies towards American planes refueling in Shannon Airport.

.

This is a policy that violates Ireland's own laws that it must maintain neutrality, and additionally conflicts with the wishes of the majority of the Irish citizens, who overwhelmingly oppose the genocide in Gaza – they would encourage their “friend” to detox from being drunk on power, and to refrain from stupid and evil actions that only harm both themselves and others.... mostly others for much of the time, but the other aspect, of harming themselves also, is well under way at this point.

.

Well, the Irish Ruling Classes are not going to do that, of course, because they themselves are drunk on their own addiction to the cash flow coming out of their questionable arrangements with American corporate tax laundering.

We here in Canada have been feeding on the fiscal teats of the US ,as we are joined at the hip; but lately it has soured and is hard to digest. We are rigoursly pursuing other arrangements to avoid being sucked down their current rabbit hole. We could really use some Irish products ( I'd love to get some Irish butter at a reasonable price😁) . Hopefully our PM Carney ( an Irish descendant!) will visit Dublin soon .😏🇨🇦😎
