The term “Third Worldism” has been used by some of Trump’s critics to describe aspects of Trumpism—the political ideology and style associated with Trump and his lizard-brained acolytes. This comparison arises from the similarities between Trump's governance style, rhetoric, and policies and those often associated with authoritarian or populist leaders in developing nations (Third World countries). The comparison is not about economic underdevelopment but rather about political behaviour—Trumpism’s disregard for democratic norms, reliance on personality over institutions, and use of divisive, patronage-based politics.
