Sinn Féin is still flirting with Russia
They can't be trusted in the Department of Foreign affairs either
Sinn Fein MEPs this week voted in favour of an amendment written by Jordan Bardella of the far-right National Front in France that would ultimately support Russian interests in the war in Ukraine. Combined with previous voting records and public utterances it would suggest Sinn Féin are not just flirting with Russia, they’ve dropped the hand.
I’ve written recently about Sinn Féin’s voting record in the previous EU parliament. Their only MEP in the 2019-2024 parliament, Chris MacManus, voted and abstained a lot in a manner that would suggest Sinn Féin is very pro-Putin.
Sinn Féins Chris MacManus had a very curious voting record regarding Russia. He abstained on a European Parliament resolution that called for immediate investigations into MEPs acting as agents of influence for Russia. Why would anybody abstain in a vote that wanted to investigate people spying for Russia in the EU?
