That whole story is about me. An aquaintance put me in touch with that group who were looking for a Ukrainian to give a talk. I credit Eoin Ó Murchú, the known author of those pieces in the Phoenix, for putting his leftist target audience off me and sparing me those purity tests in person, if I God forbid had ventured into that talk.
Thanks for outing them. It's difficult, as an ordinary reader, to pick up on the spoofs masquerading as truth.
I admit that AI scares the sh#t out of me, because I love politics in general, and am aware that sooner or later I won't know what to believe, and will have to stop reading all together!
Thanks Tully. I used to like supporting an independent publication like that. I bought it for the last time many months ago when the slant just got offensive. A particular view of the world, soft on Provos, soft on Putin. And if you've ever been mentioned in any of the minor gossipy stories, the facts are usually far from accurate. Good work.
Thanks Daniel, I’d agree entirely with your observations there. I was a long time subscriber, a legacy thing because it was always bought at home. I cancelled my subscription yesterday. It’s long stopped being amusing or informative.
Not quite as much of a self own as the Chris Cuomo / AOC AI video fiasco, though primarily because that one was LABELED as an AI spoof.
This disinfo feed pic might as well have carried an equivalent warning.
Speed to post over info verification seldom ends well.
Gonna guess there will be few actual ramifications or genuine mea culpa.
They’ll probably follow up with a piece in which they rail about how terrible it is to exist in a media environment in which they could be so easily misled.
This is exactly the reason I cancelled my subscription. It felt like Pravda Eire. EU/NATO bad all the time. Russia a great bunch of lads. Moscow Mick is misunderstood.

Sweet Jesus…
This is amateur level intel stuff.

And we’re back to Chris Cuomo again…😑
Thanks again for your efforts. Well done.
👏👏👏

Thanks for this, Tull. Pretty shocking stuff, especially since the story was so effectively and globally debunked.
Once upon a time the Phoenix was a great read, never fully truthful.. but close enough to titillate the conspiracy advocates.
Now it’s just a rag.
