Given that an incontrovertibly dominant narrative has strangely yet to descend on the general election, the campaign is a titanic battle between two equal and opposing forces.

The Irresistible Force 

The winds of change are blowing more than they have in recent months. As the standard bearer of the “change” option, Sinn Féin will be somewhat pleased that the campaign has been quite policy-heavy compared to what we’ve seen in the UK and US of late, to name but two examples.  

For all the complaints from the “above-the-fray holier-than-thou” types in the media about the 10-leader debate this past Monday night, it was an infinitely more rooted and policy-centric discourse than the largely “post-policy” environment in which Trump won the White House for the second time.  

Sure, it lacked fireworks, but there was no “they’re eating the dogs” demagoguery at play at this debate. Voters had a chance to come out the other side of it with a half-decent idea about the major parties' policies.
