The Irish Politics Newsletter is introducing political scientist Dr Dónal Gill as a guest writer for the General Election. Dónal is Assistant Professor of Canadian Politics at Concordia University in Montreal, Canada. Dónal has a PhD in Political Science from Concordia University (2020), a BA in History and Politics (2008), and an MA in Politics from University College Cork (2010). He was awarded the Diarmuid Whelan Memorial Award for best MA thesis at UCC and has written on the political thought of Jonathan Swift and James Joyce. A frequent commentator in Canadian media on party politics, elections and polling, Dónal combines deep familiarity with the political science literature on these matters with incisive punditry on the macro strategy and micro tactics of political discourse, communications, and ideology.
