A masterclass in A.I political buffoonery
When you thought some members of European Parliament couldn’t get any more detached from reality, along comes Ciaran Mullooly—former RTE journalist, currently a sitting Independent Ireland MEP, and now, apparently, a man who outsources his conscience and letter writing to one of the most powerful people in the world, the E.U president, to ChatGPT.
This political genius decided the best way to plead for the children of Gaza was to fire up the ol’ AI word-mixer and crank out a letter dripping with so much synthetic sentimentality it could make a Hallmark card blush. It has a fictional Palestinian orphan (because real suffering just isn’t poignant enough), an uncredited Swedish House Mafia lyric (because nothing says “humanitarian crisis” like Eurorave), and a seven-point plan so vague and lacking originality it might as well have been scribbled on the back of a beer mat after a couple of pints.
